Super Easy 15 Minute Snack – Roasted Nuts
Prior to #JanuaryWhole30, I would reach for cookies to snack on (not just because last month was Christmas either). I would open the fridge and look for something to nibble on because I was bored. I know this experience is all too familiar, amirite? Lucky for me I made a super easy 15 minute snack that follows Whole30 and anyone can make it! I’m a few weeks into Whole30 and I think I’m doing better, because I’m making a conscience decision on what I am going to snack on, because 1) Whole30 rules (can’t exactly break those) but also 2) how am I going to feel after I eat that snack.
I will say, I have always been a snacker and I always will be, so that won’t change. If there’s anything I take away from Whole30, is that you decide what works for you, and what you put into your body is your decision. The aftermath is what we don’t realize, so picking up a cookie or a piece of cake isn’t gonna cut it anymore. Simply put, I just feel like absolute sh*t. I love sweets like no other but doing Whole30 changes your perception on food intake. It’s why I do this at least once or twice a year, because my body needs it after the holidays and even during the year when I feel like I’m off track.
Soooo all of that said, I think I’m doing better on this snacking thing!
One of my favorite things to munch on (and sometimes too much), are roasted nuts. I usually roast my own at home because you can control the darkness yourself. I made a super easy 15 minute snack – extremely flavorful roasted nuts. I’m simply calling them, “Spicy Rosemary Roasted Nuts” but I will have to think of a better name! The ingredients in them are so simple, I bet you already have most of them in your pantry. They’re highly addictive, so I’m warning you now and you can’t blame me if you eat the the entire bowl!
Tips for the BEST roasted nuts:
- Don’t be afraid of salt, this is what helps brings out the flavor of all of your spices!
- Make sure you toss the nuts around midway, so that each and every single piece gets an even coating of spice
- At the end of the bake you may notice it is still looking wet, but don’t worry! Let it cool down and it will crisp up – so do take the time to walk away for 15 minutes and come back to eat 🙂
Check out this super easy 15 minute snack recipe! I don’t think it’ll disappoint 🙂
Spicy Garlic and Rosemary Roasted Nuts
Super easy 15 minute snack that is not to disappoint! Roasted nuts are so easy, and and the slight spiciness from the cayenne and all of the garlicky flavors we love combined with rosemary are so so good, you will not regret it!
- 3 cups raw nuts (I used almonds, walnuts and cashews)
- 2.5 tbsp oil (olive or neutral oil)
- 1.5 tsp dried rosemary
- 1.5 tsp garlic powder
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit
Toss all ingredients in a medium bowl
Spread nut mixture evenly on a baking sheet
Bake for 7 minutes, turning the sheet halfway. Once the first 7 minutes are done, take the sheet out and mix around the nuts with a spatula and pop it back in the oven for the last 7 minutes, and halfway turn midway (total 14-15 minutes in the oven).
It may still appear wet, but it will crisp up as you let it cool for 15 minutes
Serve immediately or store up to a few weeks (if it’ll last that long)!
If you’re using pre-roasted nuts, take them out at 5 minutes instead of 7, and toss around to ensure none of them overbake, as the nuts have already been roasted.Â
What are some of your favorite snacks? I love this recipe because it’s a blank canvas, a small change makes a big difference! I hope you love this as much as I did eating them. Please share what your thoughts are if you made it!
Love,
Rina
