Simple and Easy Recipe for Pecan Tassies
These pecan tassies are a bit of a cheat sheet recipe because they use premade pastry dough. But that’s why they are simple and easy recipe for pecan tassies! I made pie crust during the holidays and had leftover in my freezer. It is the perfect vehicle for this pecan tassie recipe. You can find frozen pie crusts at the grocery store, so you can use that too. Cut them into smaller 6 pieces that will press into a muffin tin. Otherwise if you have the time, you can make a really quick pastry dough, I like this basic recipe here. It makes for a beautiful pie crust for future uses and keeps well in the freezer.
My friend recommended I make pecan tassies with all the pecans I won from a giveaway with Schermer Pecans. I don’t like pecan pies, so I figured a miniature version would be tolerable because it’s less sweet. This is a wonderful best recipe because it’s just enough for one person. Although, a topping of vanilla ice cream is highly recommended, and well worth it.
I believe traditional pecan tassies are actually made with a cream cheese crust, so obviously my recipe is different in that form. So for the most part, this recipe is for the easy filling and wonderful pecan streusel topping that lends a nice crunch when it’s fully baked. Promise these are a winner!
Easy Pecan Tassies
Using store bought frozen pastry dough, these pecan tassies come together so quick!
- Muffin tin
- 2 sheets pastry dough (6 3×3 in squares needed)
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 whole egg (room temperature )
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp melted butter (cooled)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Pecan Streusel
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (room temperature )
- 1/4 tsp salt
Pecan tassie filling
In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, maple syrup, egg, vanilla extract, butter and salt and set aside
Pecan Tassie dough and mold
Preheat oven to 350 degree oven
In a muffin tin, press down 6 pastry dough squares in each muffin tin. They should not be too thick otherwise you may risk underbaking. It's best if you can get the dough at least 3/4 up the side of the muffin tin so you have a nice filling cavity
Pour in the filling evenly in the 6 tins you pressed the pastry dough in
Pecan Streusel Topping
Combine all the ingredients until well incorporated, should be loose. Top off the tassies evenly with this streusel.
Bake the tassies for 20-25 minutes until the top streusel is crispy and edges of the tassie are browned nicely
