How to Make a Leftover Charcuterie Sandwich

Who had their fill of charcuterie and cheese boards this holiday? I definitely made at least four, between Christmas and New Years lol. I had a good amount of cheese and meat and guess what, I’m going to show you how to make a leftover charcuterie sandwich. YES! It’s so good.

  • Christmas Eve Charcuterie Board
  • Christmas Day Charcuterie Board
  • Mini Charcuterie Board
  • New Years Day Charcuterie Board

I can’t get enough of charcuterie boards. They are so great for multiple reasons:

  • Easy to make: buy several cheeses, meats, crackers, jam and fruit. Nothing complicated! No cooking required 🙂
  • Fun to create: you can design and change up how you want to display the board.
  • Easy clean up: usually a cheese board is completely wiped clean because everyone loves it!

But, like I said, you might have some leftover cheese and meats in the fridge that maybe could be put to use in some other way. Instead of making another cheese board, why not try a sandwich?! If you have all of the remaining ingredients from the charcuterie board, slices of bread and some butter.. then you have another meal! This is how to make a leftover charcuterie sandwich.

Tips for a solid charcuterie sandwich:

  • Use a variety of cheeses – combine cheddar with havarti, or smoked gouda and parmesan. Whatever you have on hand, mix it up!
  • I use two types of mustard only because I LOVE dijon – I use the Old Style Maille Mustard
  • Add in herbs – if you have any on hand, this will level up your sammy. Sandwich in a few layers of basil leaves or sprinkle in some rosemary.
  • Do not skimp on buttering the bread – specifically on the outside of the slices where you are cooking! It’s what gives the sandwich the browned crispy crunch. Kerrygold spreading butter is a fantastic choice. You will regret missing this step!
  • Add in another texture if you’d like: this is a meat-cheese-heavy sandwich, well because it’s a charcuterie sandwich! But you can add in your own flavor, too – add in sliced tomatoes, olives, pickled onions. You name it! It’s your sammy!

Check out the low-down recipe below. It’s so easy you could make it in a pinch since you already have everything!
