How to Make Candied Pecans
So, I recently won a Bakers’ Box of pecans giveaway with The Bake Feed and Schermer Pecans! I didn’t know I was so lucky to win a giveaway but here we are, with 6 bags of pecans! Haha I am prepared for the rest of the year and then some. I love eating baked pecans as a snack. When I got these pecans in the mail, I knew candied pecans was on top of the list of things I wanted to make.
Candied pecans are easy to make, and they are also very addicting! These went so fast with my friends and family. They are also wonderful in cookies, mixed into your granola, or a topping on your yogurt or ice cream. In the recipe below, I also made a reel on Instagram. You can see the process on how it’s done and from start to finish it should take less than 30 minutes.
What I love about this recipe is that they are made without any refined sugar. They are usually made with lots of sugar or brown sugar when you buy candied pecans. This recipe only uses maple syrup! Yes, believe it! Maple syrup has such a wonderful sweetness that you don’t need much. This is why I love these pecans. I don’t feel too bad eating them with less processed stuff. Also, this recipe is baked to perfection so that you aren’t left with sticky pecans out of the oven. The key is to let the pecans cool as they are out of the oven so they crisp up nicely. It’s a win-win! You only need a handful of ingredients, so go on and check out the recipe below!
Super Easy Candied Pecans
A naturally sweetened recipe for Candied Pecans
- 3 cups raw pecans (Schermer Pecans are amazing!)
- 1/4 cup Pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Line parchment paper on your baking sheet (they will stick to your pan if you skip this step!)
Toss together all of the ingredients.
Pour the mixture on parchment paper spreading the pecans evenly and bake for 20 minutes, the key is to toss every 5 minutes so they are evenly toasted.
Let it cool for about 10 minutes and they’re ready for munching!
These keep for a few days in an airtight container, otherwise they may start to get a tad sticky. It’s ideal to keep in a cool area, rather in a warmer area to avoid this.
I’d love to make praline pecans too one day. While I think they are the best on its own, they taste so good on ice cream. I’m sure they’d also be great on top of yogurt or mixed into with your granola! Hope you enjoy these!
